About Simmons Legal
Having a valid Will and Enduring Powers of Attorney in place makes a good succession plan.
But what makes a succession plan great is when each phase of succession law speaks to the next, laying the foundations for your executors to move through probate smoothly and reducing the risk of disputes after you're gone.
Dedicated Succession Planning Approach
As a dedicated succession law practice, we do it differently. We build all three phases - planning, probate, and dispute prevention - into your very first meeting, so your plan is working on all three fronts, from the beginning. That said, we understand life doesn't always work in order.
If you come to us mid-way, you're an executor trying to navigate Probate, or a family facing a Will dispute, we can help with that phase in isolation. But the goal is always to have clients come to us earlier, during their lifetime, so we can plan properly from the start.
When you do come to us for lifetime planning, here's what that looks like in practice:
We prepare your Will, Enduring Powers of Attorney and Appointment of Medical Treatment Decision Makers. We consider what you own, but also what you control.
As part of that, we work with you to build an Executor's Guide - everything your executor and their solicitor will need to apply for probate, gathered in one place, so nothing has to be tracked down later at the worst possible moment (increasing the amount of time, trouble and expense involved).
We look at the situations that most commonly lead to estate disputes and how they apply to your personal circumstances. We build strategies into your plan to reduce the risk of disputes where possible.
Fixed Fees for Certainty and Peace of Mind
Underpinning everything we do at Simmons Legal is your experience as a client. We work on fixed fees, so a conversation about your family never turns into a conversation about the clock - you're there to tell your story and get to the problem you actually came for advice on, without fear of a bill you didn’t agree to. Fixed fees and timely advice, without compromising on quality.
Dedicated Knowledge, Minus the Effort.
And it can happen however suits you - in person with us, online or documents sent to you. We're not a DIY template you fill in yourself and hope it holds up. And we're not a large firm that can sometimes come with layers of process, changing points of contact and fees that quietly snowball. We are a dedicated Succession Law practice, without the overhead.
